Index cards found, crumpled, in the third floor dorm room trash.
Card 1
Poetry slam, Hi-life Lounge, 3rd March
Hi, I'm Alex Yamamoto
I have a selection of poems from my
years at the monastery
I dedicate these to my master with respect.
(energy!)
Card 2
This is a Haiku I wrote when I was seven.
It is titled Ladybug.
(pause and breathe)
Ladybug, ovoid
caught from above. Flash!
(show photo of ladybug)
dewdrop aflight.
Card 3
This is a poem I entered in the slam last year.
It is entitled, "Things."
(pause, breathe in energy)
Things
Things are not what they seem.
You cannot know what I mean.
Quick! Don't think about A Gainst.
A
Gast.
A
Propos.
A
Droit.
Are these things things at all?
Language tells us yes
and no
Card 4 [a red X crosses the card]
Things (cont.)
But how can we know?
"Because language tells us so."
Without words
there are no things.
No me, no you.
no-thing.
Card 5
This is called Eat. It is
[Line crossed out]
(deep breath, relax)
Eat
First I ate everything
But there was no body to digest it
Then I ate fistfuls of sand
To prove my resolve
I chewed on bones of the ancestors
to get to the marrow
Now I eat poison
to kill the self
to be free
to eat once more.
Card 6
[written in colored pencil]

This is good stuff.
I got nostalgic and googled, and look, there you are, still writing.
Me too, a bit.

p.s. I knew it was you before I saw the pic on Amazon, because of the car book. LOL posi-traction.
Yes still writing... I only took a couple decades off. Also see kids stories at mlekas.wordpress.com. They are about a cat, whose name is Tea.
Wow posis dude. Forgot all about that! That's worth a short story. My almost-6-year-old loves cars, so therefore I love cars by proxy.
Thanks for signing your message - would have had no idea at all who dbmyrrha would be (tried the heuristic DB = database, myrrh = incense, a = first, and that got me nowhere). I won't reveal who you are, to help you thwart those who might google you (even as you shamelessly google others).
